While it’s easy to imagine that all bartenders, nightclub owners, promoters, DJs and musicians live on Sex, Drugs and Rock ‘N’ Roll Lane, the truth is often a bit less glamorous. There’s a lot of worry to shoulder when you write your own paycheck (and even more so when you’re responsible for the livelihood of various employees). One bad week could bankrupt a large bar or club; a poorly attended show could ruin a reputation. And then there’s the need to stay relevant and in demand.
